Dave Peralty To Revive Cutline Support

November 17, 2007 · Print This Article

Add emergency medical tech to Dave Peralty’s job description as Splashpress Media’s just hired marketing guru. Peralty has been given the job of providing CPR to the once-hot Cutline theme.

The key challenge for Peralty is breathing life into Cutline despite the absence of designer Chris Pearson, who built the WordPress theme and saw usage flourish under his watchful eye. Now Peralty’s role is to rebuild Cutline support that has virtually vanished since Splashpress acquired the theme from Pearson earlier this year.

Hoping to convince people Splashpress is taking a more active role in supporting the thousands of Internet users that have adopted Cutline, Peralty told fans someone indeed was at the helm.

“For those of you that have been worried about Cutline’s support, you need not worry any longer,” Peralty announced on the Cutline site. As manager, Peralty said he would release new versions of the theme plus take part in the theme’s support forum discussions.

However, is Cutline’s glory gone? WordPress theme designers are concentrating on news-oriented themes, such as Brian Gardner’s Revolution example. Gardner, the first to manage Cutline post Splashpress acquisition, bowed out after his own designs became more popular.

In a unique completion of the Cutline circle, Pearson, the theme’s author, is now promoting Neoclassical, a new design catching the eye of Cutline users. Will Neoclassical catch fire like Cutline once did? Only time will tell.
